The Rise of Kari Lake, Tulsi Gabbard, and the Expanding Conservative Movement
Plus 7 things from other people probably worth your time...
With the midterm elections next week, I wanted to publish a piece about the political landscape and one of the candidates in particular - Kari Lake who is running for Governor of Arizona.
Kari Ann Lake is an American politician and former television news anchor. After working at Phoenix television station KSAZ-TV for 22 years, she stepped down from her anchor role in March 2021. She announced her campaign for governor of Arizona on June 1, 2021, and is the Republican nominee in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election.
If you have been keeping up with her, you already know she is going to be a force to be reckoned with. She is not apologetic about standing up to corrupt media driven by ideology and profit, and she also is already an experienced media personality.
To get an idea of where Ms. Lake is coming from, watch this:
This gives her a significant edge against her opponent - Katie Hobbs, an American politician and social worker who is serving as Secretary of State of Arizona since January 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she was an Arizona state senator representing the 24th district from 2013 to 2019 and an Arizona state representative representing the 15th district from 2011 to 2013.
But Hobbs appears uninterested in public debate and honest discourse with Lake. In this video, Lake calls out Hobbs as a coward hiding in her basement, the way Joe Biden became President.
This seems to be an effective strategy - mum the candidates and let corrupt corporate media be the mouthpiece of all Democrats, then let electoral trafficking through non-profits get the necessary votes into the system.
Mrs. Lake, I believe, will be essential to the transformation of the Republican Party, which is expanding to include liberals*. Backed by Trump, Lake has the momentum behind her with rhetoric and conviction that is relatable to a growing number of conservatives, and cheered by traditionalists. I, for one, admire her courage and tact to stand up to corruption and propaganda in the media.
*The Republican Party is transforming because left-leaning centrists such as Tulsi Gabbard who denounced the Democratic Party as a ‘cabal of elitists’ are becoming relatively more conservative. I plan to dedicate an upcoming piece to this subject in the future.
By and For We the People
When I first started this Substack a year ago, one of my primary motivations was to combat the progressive trend of censorship with Big Tech and Big Media which leads to propaganda. I believed in the importance of personal autonomy, freedom of ideas, and expression; and that mainstream communications and policies of companies and institutions were suppressing these liberties.
Launching this Substack was a way to push back against the looming tyranny of digital dictatorship. Pushing back against this type of tyranny involves sacrifice and making difficult choice, but we can get more into that subject later.
