The madness we are seeing in our country is hard to believe. It is impacting us not just collectively, but individually and personally, as well. And I believe it will only subside if and when traditional Americans take a stand against it and push back. Not with aggressive force, but with grace and virtue.
High Virtue is non-virtuous;
Therefore it has Virtue.
Low Virtue never frees itself from virtuousness;
Therefore it has no Virtue.
From chapter 38 of the Tao Teh Ching.
Woke and progressive politics are hurting us all no doubt, especially amongst friends and family members. I can attest to having been impacted commercially, professionally, and personally. In fact, just recently I received an email from my father asking me to remove and stop linking to his website from the Liberty Wave.
His reasoning?
“To honor and favor people like Tucker Carlson, Trump, and MTG is beyond my belief and tolerance.”
*I did not know what or who MTG was. That had to be explained to me.
High Virtue makes no fuss and has no private ends to serve:
Low Virtue not only fusses but has private ends to serve.
Look! The Liberty Wave is a public and a private forum. It is for people who have or would like a voice in the world and are willing to speak out against tyranny, and help preserve the US Constitution. If our rhetoric offends you to the extent where you need a site like this to not reference you because it is “beyond your tolerance,” there really is not much else to be said. The request speaks for itself.
I do not intend to drag my personal life into my blogging endeavors. Nor do I wish to exploit my own father. There is, of course, more context and history around that one request.
However, it is a real-world example of how divided and divisive the world has become, and how personally it can hit home. Or maybe the world has always been this way and as you age in life you begin to see it and experience it differently. Not necessarily more clearly, but you do get unique views once in a while.
High humanity fusses but has no private ends to serve:
High morality not only fusses but has private ends to serve.
High ceremony fusses but finds no response;
Then it tries to enforce itself with rolled up sleeves.
Hopefully you get my point. Reality is that the world always has its moments of madness, as you age you experience things differently, and now the contemporary traditional American is suddenly an extremist at risk of being canceled, censored, and possibly even persecuted by woke progressive liberals.
Unfortunately, my father is not my only relative or close friend who has sought to silence me, cancel me, or disassociate from me for not oppressing my values.
As the Biden administration hopefully comes to an end, and woke ideology becomes unpopular, the USA will have a chance to re-align with our core values. But the cracks in the fabric of our nation will persist if they are not tended to, or confronted head on with vigor - grace and virtue.
For illustration purposes, here is a list from BillOReilly.com of some of the destructive things that have taken root under the most radical left administration in history.
Non-punishment of criminals
Failure to enforce immigration law
The legalization and encouragement of marijuana and gambling
Taxpayer funded entitlements for Americans who refuse to even look for a job.
Abortion up until birth for any reason
Failure to provide due process in the court of public opinion
Acceptance of degrading behavior in public places
Attacks on Catholics and Jews
Dishonest manipulation of the voting system
Acceptance and funding of public schools that fail students
Allowance of gender changing advantage in women’s sports.
And to think this is only a “smidgen” of the decline going on right now in American society. I echo what O’Reilly says, “Speak up. Support those who are fighting the madness. And pray for your country.”
Failing Tao, man resorts to Virtue.
Failing Virtue, man resorts to humanity.
Failing humanity, man resorts to morality.
Failing morality, man resorts to ceremony.
